Winter Parking

Overnight Ban

In order to ensure that the most critical roadways in Chicago are kept clear at all times, the City of Chicago instituted a Winter Overnight Parking Ban on 107 miles of vital arterial streets from 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. between December 1st and April 1st. Two Inch Snow Parking Ban

A separate seasonal parking ban exists for another 500 miles of main streets when there is at least two inches of snow on the street, no matter the time of day or the date. Motorists who ignore this permanently posted seasonal tow zone face a minimum $150 towing fee, in addition to a $50 ticket and an initial $10 daily storage fee.
