Informational Presentation for the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School Annex

Where:
Lincoln Elementary School
615 West Kemper Place

When:
Thursday April 17th
6:00 pm

Description:
As you know from previous communications an annex will be built at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, and over the past several months the Chicago Public Schools planning staff has been working internally with the Principal to develop the plans.

Please join me at a public presentation about the annex. This is an opportunity for the community to find out about this project. Per my direction, representatives of the Public Building Commission (PBC) and Chicago Public Schools (CPS) will present plans for the project, which will be heard at the Chicago Commission on Landmark’s Permit Review Committee on May 1st, 2014. PBC will also discuss construction details and timelines as well as answer your questions.

The development plan calls for the construction of a 3- story addition containing an additional 17 classrooms; a computer lab; a multi-purpose lunchroom; 2 music/band rooms and a rooftop play area for students. Many parts of the existing structure will also be renovated, including window air conditioners, a new elevator, a new ground-level play structure and rehabbing of children’s programming spaces and administrative centers.

I hope you can join the PBC, CPS and me to engage in a direct dialogue with the PBC to gain a better understanding of this project and receive answers to your questions.
