Community Meeting on Zoning Change for 2201-2215 N. Halsted
Please join me for a community meeting on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. to learn about the proposed zoning change to the property located between 2201 and 2215 N. Halsted from a B1-2 Neighborhood Shopping District to a B3-2 Community Shopping District. The meeting will be held at:
St. Vincent DePaul Center
2145 N. Halsted, Room 351
November 27, 2012
6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
The recently opened Flirty Girl Fitness at 2215 N. Halsted and the property owner entered into a lease on the belief that the Chicago Zoning Ordinance classified this property as B3-2, which is the zoning of the historic Halsted/Armitage retail corridor. A B3-2 property would have allowed Flirty Girl to apply for an incidental liquor license and public place of amusement license, which licenses are held at her existing West Loop location. It turns out that after researching the history of zoning for this portion of Halsted, the property went from a C1-2, which is a zoning designation meant for much broader and more intense business use, in 1995 to a B1-2 in 2004 when the Chicago Zoning Ordinance was changed.
We are considering the change in zoning in order to make the zoning designations for the property located between 2201-2215 N. Halsted consistent with the remaining Armitage/Halsted retail corridor and to allow Flirty Girl to apply for the additional licenses it needs to mirror its thriving West Loop location. Flirty Girl presented its business plan to the Lincoln Central Association and received approval provided that the business owner agrees not to transfer her incidental liquor license in the event her doors shut or she seeks a change in corporate officers. She has agreed to those restrictions.
Please join us as we discuss the change and to raise any questions you might have. We look forward to seeing you on November 27, 2012. In the meantime, you can reach my office at 773-348-9500 or email@example.com.
