DESCRIPTION:
Lucius Bell’s “Home Tone Music and Arts Foundation”, hosted by Francis W. Parker School, 2233 N. Clark, present “Global Griots: Music, Dance, Art, and Storytelling of the African Diaspora”. Some of Chicago’s finest professional musicians will perform Jazz, Salsa, European Classical music written by African American composers as it evolved from traditional African music to America and the Caribbean. Accompanying the concert, is an art exhibition, curated by South African, Soraya Sheppard, whose guest is South African artist, Juba, representing his work and the plight of post apartheid artists. The public art showing is from 2pm – 4pm and the concert begins at 4pm.
