Illinois Department of Transportation Statewide Bike Plan Input Session

When:
Thursday, October 10th
3pm – 6pm

Where:
James R. Thompson Center
100 W. Randolph St.

Description:
Beginning in September, the Illinois Department of Transportation will hold public outreach meetings concerning the development of our Fiscal Year 2015-2020 Proposed Multi-Modal Transportation Improvement Program and to promote the new Illinois State Bike Plan. The Division of Highways has scheduled these meetings early in the program development phase so that your input can be taken into consideration along with our pavement and bridge needs analyses and other project initiatives already presented to the Department in development of this Program.

In addition, the Illinois Department of Transportation is developing the first ever state-wide Illinois Bicycle Transportation Plan and needs your help! This long-range planning document will guide future policy decisions and infrastructure improvements to make cycling a safer, more convenient, and more accessible transportation option for Illinoisans.

The Department is specifically seeking comments concerning four areas:
– overall transportation system performance in your regions;
– regional transportation priorities that might affect the development of the next Multi-Modal Transportation Improvement Program;
– provide suggestions on how to make bicycling a more effective mode of transportation for Illinois’ residents and visitors
– specific comments concerning projects that should be considered for inclusion in the program. The Department is also seeking comments on how to improve the effectiveness of our public outreach efforts
