WHERE:
N. Lincoln Avenue between Fullerton & Wrightwood

In a city known for its summer street festivals, you’d be hard-pressed to top the popularity of Taste of Lincoln Avenue which returns for its 29th year in 2012 the weekend of July 28-29. Among its many highlights: 40-plus music acts on five diverse stages where performers delight in many genres including pop/rock, local tribute bands, down home blues and acclaimed national indie/classic rock headliners. These adult music offerings complement the equally acclaimed local/national kids’ acts booked to entertain both children and their families.

In addition, there’s plenty of food, beer and wine, and a huge offering of arts & craft vendors. Other Taste of Lincoln Avenue highlights include …

  • The wildly popular (and free!) kids’ carnival that takes place from Noon-6:00 p.m. each day on Altgeld between Lincoln and Halsted (entrance on Halsted). This area features stage entertainment, inflatables, art activities galore, a petting zoo and pony rides.
  • And for true art aficionados, there’s the stand-alone “Lill Street Craft Fair” (taking its name from being held on tree-lined Lill Street) showcasing handmade and DIY art from Noon-dusk each day.

Proceeds benefit the Wrightwood Neighbors Association which, in turn, makes grants to charitable and educational organizations serving the local community.
