The Lincoln Park Conservancy will be offering free Wildflower Walks at the North Pond Nature Sanctuary on June 1, July 6, August 3, and September 7, 2013.
Tours begin at 10 a.m. Advance registration is required by emailing info@lincolnparkconservancy.org or calling (773) 883-PARK.
Guests will enjoy the beauty of wildflowers while learning their stories and why they are important to the environment and wildlife. These easy 45- to 60-minute walks are great for beginners as well as the experienced and are geared toward adults. Each month visitors will enjoy different species in bloom. The North Pond Nature Sanctuary is a 15-acre natural area that is home to over 100 species of native Midwestern wildflowers and grasses. The Sanctuary is located in Lincoln Park between Fullerton, Stockton, Diversey, and Cannon Drive.
The Lincoln Park Conservancy, in partnership with the Chicago Park District, has been the steward and co-manager of the North Pond Nature Sanctuary since 1998 when it underwent a $1.45 million rehabilitation to become one of Chicago’s first nature sanctuaries.
