Moving Signs

Our office provides  ‘No Parking’ signs, specifically for residential moves, to residents of the 43rd Ward who are not using professional movers.  We can provide signs to residents who plan to move individually, using a rental truck such as UHaul. Please note, these signs are not enforceable by ticketing or tow.

To obtain these signs, please come into the 43rd Ward Service Office with proof of residency, a valid ID, and your UHaul confirmation number. ‘No Parking’ signs are available for an eight hour window, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. residents may not reserve space for more than one day at a time.

Signs must be picked up 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE and posted to the site AT LEAST 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF THE MOVE.

The Chicago Department of Transportation also provides ‘No Parking’ signs for residential moves. For a fee of $25, CDOT will provide ticket and tow enforceable signs to eligible moving companies for the day of the move. This also requires 72 hours. For more information on this program, please contact the Department of Transportation at 312-744-4652.
